Default Calathea ID question? Anyone?

I have this Calathea that I do not have an ID for. I've done quite a bit of searching to no avail. It is very velvety and soft although it may not be obvious in the photos.

Scott, is the flower color yellow. If so, then I'd guess Calathea Villosa.

Hiya Re: Calathea ID question? Anyone?

Steve, I have yet to see the bloom but I think you are correct. I could not find much on Villosa but the illustration I looked at looks like the right plant. Let me know when are going to New Iberia and maybe we can go together.

Mine has bloomed every year for the past 3. It's just now putting on leaves. It's a nice plant. I'll let you when I'm going to Stokes.

I would assume it's not hardy at all, zone 10 at least?

No, it's hardy here, at least for me. One of the few Calatheas that is.

How easy are Calatheas to grow in a pot? I bought one and am debating taking it back. What conditions do you grow them in?

Wish I could answer that question. The only one I have is in the ground.
