Star Fruit Recipes Jam

Are you looking for star fruit recipes for jam? Star fruit is also known as carambola, Chinese star fruit or five-angled fruit. Homemade jams made from star fruit are easy to make and better for you as they contain fewer, if any, preservatives. A number of variations of the star fruit jam recipe exist. Some star fruit jam recipes use pectin or additional fruits or fruit juices. Juices used in star fruit jam recipes include lemon or lime. Sugar substitutes, such as honey or artificial sweeteners, can be used as well.

To make star fruit jam, you will need:
50 ounces of star fruit
3 1/2 cups of water

3 3/4 cups of sugar
The juice of two lemons
1 teaspoon salt

Wash the star fruit. Cut off the winged edges and remove the star fruit's seeds. Place the chopped star fruit in a saucepan.
Add 3 1/2 cups of water. Boil the star fruit for fifteen minutes, or until tender. Add the rest of the ingredients and boil until the jam sets.
Pour the jam into sterilized canning jars. Date and label your jars.

Other variations of star fruit jam recipes require:
4 cups star fruit, washed, de-seeded, sliced and pureed
4 cups of sugar
Wash the star fruit. De-seed and puree the star fruit. Combine the pureed star fruit with the sugar in a large pot.
Bring the pureed star fruit and sugar to a boil. Stir the mixture constantly. Reduce heat, cooking until thickened.
Pour the jam into sterilized canning jars. Date and label the canning jars.

You can also try the following recipe for star fruit jam, which requires:
3 pounds of washed, chopped and de-seeded star fruit
1/2 to 3/4 pounds of brown sugar
Wash the star fruit. Chop and de-seed the star fruit.
Boil the star fruit and brown sugar. Make sure to stir constantly. Reduce heat, cooking until thickened.
Pour the jam into sterilized canning jars. Date and label the canning jars.
