Musa Velutina SUCCESS!!!

Hello Ornamental Banana Lovers~!

After 4 years of trying...SUCCESS!!!
A PINK BANANA FLOWER!!!

I ordered 2 lovely M. Dasycarpa(Velutina) from Plant Delights Nursery this Spring. I received (2) 12-14" healthy specimens. I put one in the ground & one in a large pot.

This is the one in the ground. :-D

SO EXCITED!!!
Will be doing my best to document day to day growth on this Beauty!!!
Thank you for joining me on this journey!!! :woohoonaner: ~Cheryl

Congrats! I was sorry not to be able to share a pup from mine when you came down that time...but you saw how mine was doing. The drought finally did it in last year but I have another one going now, thanks to a friend. The bananas on mine would never stay pink long. I had it close to a brick wall and I think the radiant heat from the wall may have had something to do with it. Hopefully yours will stay looking nice longer for you!

Very nice! My Velutina flowered last summer making it the first banana of mine to ever bloom! Unfortunately mine didnt survive the winter, I guess it was too young to handle that kind of cold even though it was a mild winter.
