well I got a light over the plumeria... hopefully it stops the leaves from yellowing
some have turned yellow and dropped off already
I need to thank my Mom for being so patient with me and my plant hobby

Out of interest as another canadian only a couple hours of GO BUS above you, How bad does it get during the winter? What vendor did you buy from? Any breeding attempts? (when i overwinter, since ill start outside ill want to not prune.)
dont feel like undoing its progress and by doing that, be worried that it wont fruit since it isnt at its required height, etc (ill probably yolo buy a plant to experiment with)

glad to see the forum back up... funny i checked just last night and it was not working yet
i will post some updated pics tonight as they have grown more since then

it is always a struggle but toward the end of their stay indoors in april and may they tend to be unhappy and want to be outdoors

with you're goals you would need a huge tall heated greenhouse... for there to be enough plants that you have multiple flowering at the same time in order to attempt breeding

i got my first banana plant from a grocery store in niagara on the lake on an impulse buy for $4
i bought one from canadian tire last year on sale $7
there is a thread somewhere on local retailers which would have them more consistently..don't have time to look right now
expect to pay more from other retailers... 50-60 per small plant but maybe more
i gladly spend that to get new varieties

My only casualty I've seen so far is Musa velutina at least spring is around the corner!!!

Nice, my plan is to try and order blue java from tropic of canada this summer, if i can acess.
otherwise ill just get musa mahoi instead

oh man this took me by surprise
I had not been in there since I last posted and was overdue to get in there and do some watering.... noticed the bunch had turned yellow!


so what is the optimal ripeness to eat a dwarf namwa?

I have found that pure yellow is good on cavendish, id expect them to not grow further probably
If you see one like this its probably at peak
Seems small probs cause of it not getting the peak attention it would be in the summer!

well we ate the bananas and they were quite good
other than the smallest one or two and the odd skinny end of one
my nephews really liked them.. I let them eat most of them
