Musa Acuminata - Overpotting and light

Hi.

I have been reading on this forum for a while now, but this is my first post.
I am based in England and purchased a Musa Acuminata around 2 months ago, which I keep in my bedroom windowsill. Since I purchased it, it has more than doubled in size and is doing very well in an 8 inch pot. It has also thrown out lots of new pups.

Due to space, I need to move it away from the windowsill and place it somewhere else. I have a large planter which is on legs and is 16 inches wide. Would moving the plant at this time of the year be advisable? Is a doubling in pot size encouraging future root rot? I really like the foliage and want to encourage it to grow to its maximum size, which I think is about 6ft.

Also the new planter is slightly away from the window so the plant won't get as much direct sunlight, it will be shaded by the curtains. Will this slow down growth?

growth will slow down
being further from the light source but also less hours of daylight during the winter months
water less often

is the plant going outside next spring?
transplanting it at this point will make it more difficult to transplant in the spring
or is the 16 inch pot the final pot size?
the smaller pot may also help to not overwater during the winter

a pic would help though to see if it is bursting at the seams and really needs a transplant

I'm having some trouble loading any images up, otherwise I would put one up. Currently it is about 2 feet tall, and has been giving out a new leaf every week, progressively bigger in size. There are 3 pups in the pot, one of which is much larger than the other two, but the main stem is about 2 inches from the side of the pot.

I'm intending to keep it as a houseplant, but may put it outside for some time in the summer. The 16 inch pot will be the final pot, I'm hoping to maximum its size as I think it would look great when over a metre tall.

you could wait a little while for the pup to get bigger and separate it at the same time as doing the transplant
i think it could stay in that container while you wait
