Hi everyone,
I'm the super newbie Blue Java/mystery banana mom first introduced here. So far my tree is acclimating OK, putting out about 2 leaves a month. Feels slow but at least she's growing, and due for new ferts soon. But the biggest concern is my banana tree grew its first pup! ![]() Still a total newbie here so I welcome advice on whether to separate it now, wait longer, try to preserve it to kill it outright? Any other options? |

If you want to separate it, I would wait until its about 2 ft tall or better. I personally would leave it as the follower for the mother plant. Subsequent pups can be removed or left alone.. up to you. Some say you get larger bunches when keeping the number of stems on a mat to a minimum.. I havent grown long enough to know if this theory hold true.
