![]() Joined this forum about two months ago when I got my "Musa acuminata"s and my "Musa sumatrana"s. I'm in Austin, TX. They get a get shade most of the morning and direct sun in the late afternoon. I try not to overwater, but they are droopy and look thirsty. The outer leaves dry out and crisp up. But the soil has some moisture and I am afraid of causing root rot. Please advise.
See pictures if you have a strong stomach. |

![]() I can't see your pics, but as hot as it is lately small plants like that only need 3 hours of sun tops. Most of my small one's only get morning sun. You could put a temp shade cloth over them. :^)

![]() For goodness sakes, give those poor plants some water!
You live in the hot desert with dry air. Bananas originate in the humid tropics, often grow right beside rice fields , where the soil level at their base is frequently no more than 6 or 8 inches above the water surface, and where it does never get as hot as it does in Austin during summer. Over-watering should be the last thing you should worry about. Good luck, Olaf

![]() Okay, I could not take it any more, so I looked BPS up in Wiki. There are about 40 different uses of this
acronym, including Bronchopulmonary Sequestration and, my favourite, Botswana Prison Service. ![]()
