Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() Hello,
I am curious if any Banana fans on the site have ever tried germinating the cold hardy musa Sikkimenis using the rather large seedof this species. If so how are they to grow. Challenging, or what? Thanks, Brian |

![]() I got a couple seeds to sprout, which is more than I can say about some other varieties that I had zero success.
The plants are very pretty when the leave unfold, the one I have is about 3 ft. tall now. I am up north, so I grow them in pots, so they don't get super big super fast. I also have an X cross that successfully sprouted and is still living. |

![]() I would say its one of the easier to germinate if you have decently fresh seed. All of mine got about 3 feet in the ground the first year, so I think they are a little bit slower growing than most.
