Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() These are the first of the seeds from Tog and were kept at about 87f during the day and 84 at night - didn't expect them to be so fast! They will be outgrowing their baggies in a few days at this rate - luckily it is fairly humid at about 73%. The last pot is not as dry as it looks, the flash went off for some reason. |

![]() Awesome! I'm trying my hand at germination of seeds myself. Mine are E. superbum. I've heard they don't germinate very well, so hopefully I'll get something from em. If not, oh well...I already bought an ES plant...so I was probably gonna trade/sell these anyway if I can get em to grow. Thanks for sharing your story of success!

![]() Congrats IC, I found these to be two of the easier ones to sprout my Darjeeling giant leave emerge with beautiful mottling (although they quickly fade to green:
This is a not so good pic of E. Glaucum due to (rare here these days) bright sunlight but maybe you can make out the glaucous blue powdery p-stem on this. It actually looks really nice in person and should be a great ornamental. Good luck with yours. |

![]() Island cassie, both of mine sprouted indoors last November and didn't start really growing till they went outdoors in May when they were maybe close to 10" tall. I'd expect yours will take off running in your area. Please keep us posted on their progress, it will be usefull to compare. Thanks, Bob

![]() This has happened to a lot of my seedlings (not that I've had that many). They seem to grow out of it. I disagree with the general perception and now transplant the seeds as soon as they break dormancy. The thinking there is that they cant suffer any transplant shock at that small size.
All of the TC plants from the agristarts order had the first leaves do this as well and are now all fine, don't worry , be happy. |

![]() Put them on a tray and water only from below whan pots dryed. This method prevents that black markins on steams and leafs on my E. seedlings.

![]() Thanks for the tips Bob and Ante - I will water from below, and transplanting as soon as they show makes sense and the baggie can then be sealed up for the other seeds.
