Very cold tolerant. Slow growing. Needs sun. Makes good Jelly as the name implies. Some ethnic groups make an alcoholic drink with the fruit. Fruit can be eaten fresh.

looking for something different. than the norm. thanks guys, butia capitate. yep palms are slow growing and messy. but don't take a lot of room and I can get a few more mats in. I have a few trees that are dead or dying that I will have to take out this winter. better a palm than a tree. got more than enough of them.

Lot of depends on your location, it's not same to grow palms in zone 9 in California, in Georgia or Florida, not to mention Croatia

Careful of the Queens. They will die sometimes as low as 20⁰. Believe me I've lost some nice ones. If you can afford a mule palm (pindo x queen) they are bullet proof but no fruit at least not what you would call edible.
