If someone really wants to sample Annonas and not just Asimina genus (Pawpaws) the easier more hardy one to do is the Sugar Apple (Annona squamosa) Small size allows container growing and fitting in small greenhouses, plus they fruit early and can tolerate the high 20's when old enough. But, like any Annona, as a youngin they will of course die from freezing.

They will die at 40f , if the you live in a area where the tepms fall below 40f , then it must be kept , indoors or in a green house.
What i mean by organic , is that i do not fertilize them with synthetic fertilizer's just incase some one uses the leaves to make Guanabana tea as i do. , i feed then coffee grounds they seem to love it . i also use coffe grounds for my avocados .a friend sent me some soursop seeds from miami some time ago & i placed them all in a germination station & they all germinated ..so now afew month later i have a hole bunch of guanabanas seedlings more than i need , and i have limited space .. so they gotta go.... Thanks for viewing... Ed.. Here are some of my bigger guanabana trees. Last edited by edzone9 : 08-15-2013 at 02:51 PM. |
