Default A whole bunch of pups from a frozen back double mahoi

[IMG][/IMG]

I bought this plant for 3 dollars in early spring, and this is what it looked like. Sorry for the lousy picture, but in case you can't see it, the pups are arranged in a spiral. Since then I have been hacking back all but one stem to keep it strong, but I will probably try to divide once the main stem is stronger. Does anyone know why its put out such a proliferation of pups? Also, is it safe to divide it later? I will post a current pic when I go to my moms garden next. Thanks!

im not sure why but i had i lttle prince die back for know reason, then out of nowhere bout 8 pups came up. it may be a trigger was set of when the main trunk died / setback so it generated pups to begin new cycle.

Nah, if the plant was older and had a larger corm, all teh pups will survive. But I would separate at least 3/4 of them before they are too big.
