Well, i can only speak for my country. The greatest part of Holland is below
sea-level. We have to raise the dikes because the sea-level is rising, thats for sure. Now, what causes the Global temperature rising, i don't know. It has happened before here around 1600 that there were decades of very warm winters. That's known because there were a lot of stories about certain flowering plants in wintertime wich should not flower at all in the winter. Also logbooks from sailors confirm this. I am not much worried about it, it will have his advantages and disadvantages. Ron |

OK gotta chip in again...
Our global climate IS changing and will continually change whether or not humans have anything to do with it. This is a proven fact. Some regions my see greater changes than others. Ocean temperature and levels HAVE and ARE rising , yet another fact. Is it gonna devestate humans in our lifetime.... probably not (might affect some wetland species). Is Oklahoma gonna be considered tropical by the time I am 50?... again I am pretty sure the answer is no. Global warming/climate change (whatever you want to refer to it as) should definately NOT be ignored and we should do everything we can to preserve our enviroment. If the earth is going to change by itself then fine but we should do everything we can to NOT be a part of the change. It is everyones responsibility to live in harmony with our planet, and if we don't then we are just a plague on this planet and that is not what I want to be known for. History channel and others like it do make it seem to be a doom and gloom issue as well as radical earth savers... but that is how they get their ratings and their media attention respectively. Who knows maybe later on in the future it could be a doom and gloom issue but no matter what we should strive to make the world a better place when we have the opportunity to. just my 4 cents ![]() -James- |

In my opinion, 2 political investments should be made to preserve the future: Education and infrastructure. Without these 2, we are doomed.

How did you know. Everyone should check their record highs in their areas. We are still a good 10 degrees below ours. I am very much against pollution. I keep the air at only 78 F in the summer, at 72 in the winter. I turn off my lights when I leave a room, car pool to work and compost everything I can. If the so called weather change is not due to people, then we should not do anything about it. Every time people try to fix something in nature, they just screw it up. I think its amazing they can claim they know so much about something that has only been studied for a short period of time with data that does not have the resolution they are claiming the change is in. The model tolerances they claim are beyond ridiculous. I use to run a thermo lab in collage and we did not get accuracy within 1 degree with any of the labs we ran and we ran very basic labs when we predicted temperatures. No way are they modeling weather to the accuracy claimed. If that was the case, the weather man would never be wrong. |

Modenacart, I maybe reading your posts wrong but I am afraid you are getting heated over this discussion and I just wanted to let you know I try to keep my posts light hearted and fun for everyone... I respect your point of view on this situation and you seem to have very good information.
I would probably gotten a bit heated too though if someone indicated that I was meteorologically affiliated with a terrorist organization. ![]() On that note.... I wasn't saying we should try to reverse the earths natural changes just live as harmoniously as possible w/ the planet so that WE (humans) are having as little adverse effects on our world as possible. Which I don't think anyone here would say that they advocate pouring bleach in streams or anything like that and I am sure we all have given up something in order to preserve our enviroment, I don't think any one is questioning your care for the enviroment (I know for sure that I'm not). I think between me and you modenacart we can create a banana powered car !!!(sorry just wanted to use that cool smiley) Regards, James

I want to thank every one for all the interesting comments I really do not know what is happening in the big picture but it appears that the moderate La Nina weather pattern that we are into now here in this part of the country will make for a excellent growing season next year in Texas - another mild winter and summer; so I have put a lot more in the green house to over winter this year and am planning a on a large yard sale of plants next spring I have close to a hundred in the green house now. I have dug all the bananas I really have room for and have ran out of pots for more. The next thing to dig is some Bamboo to pot up but that is really hard work running bamboos rhizomes are hard to cut and dig I can probably dig and pot 5- 5 gallon pots of each specie this year with out hurting my bamboo forest it usually sells pretty well when I have a yard sale. Again thank everyone! - Philip- posted some new pictures today in my galley
