![]() I had a good size plant that should have bloomed this year, but 2 weeks before time to put it out, the pstem collapsed for no apparent reason leaving pups. The pups right now are only about 2 feet tall including the leaves, so I dont think its going to bloom this season. Seems like from what I read this naner is troublesome, is it worth trying again next year?

![]() I think I am going to give it a fertilizer overload and see how much fert a nanner can take and how fast it grows.

![]() I'm kinda in the same boat as you man. First year mine grew great and was 6" when I got it and made it to 4ft.
Then we had the lowest winter temp one day ever. Even wrapped two plants died. Third one just rotted away in the greenhouse. So I planted that corm out in April and as of today it's only a foot tall. Seems to be a weak plant. |

![]() Yep, same here. TC to 4 feet and it was doing okay in the house in a south facing window, and then all of a sudden pstem dead. I have fertilized my other bananas in the ground twice a week with no ill effects, I think I am gonna fertilize this one 3 times a week and see what happens lol, Musa Viente Guinea pig

![]() This season should be a flower year for me .
![]() I am on my third year; the plant pups freely, but no flowers. Does well overwintering in 18 gal container for me. Keep it. ![]() The plant is a nice compact foliage plant even if it does not bloom. Last edited by cincinnana : 06-24-2015 at 03:54 AM. |

![]() I would let any banana go for 2-3 generations before tossing. Any given plant can have issues, and first generation can suffer from many things because of transplanting. I have had more than one plant that was actually surpassed by a next generation plant in size, vigor, even fruiting time.
My VC is gone, Just wasn't very cold tolerant. Flowered once and had one (yes one) banana in the bunch. 2nd generation struggled and gave it up the second winter.

![]() Might as well do a voodoo chant and shove 2 nails on each side of the p-stem so you can hook up your electric probes.
