I actually know know what that feels like. I spent a winter in Mo. one year with my Uncle on his farm. It was the coldest year on record and one day the wind chill was -68F
I was sent out that day to cut firewood. It was so cold I could not get the chainsaw started! I ended up picking up some scattered sticks for the fire. I remember that with all my winter clothing I could only handle about 30 minutes of being outside. Of course this was over 20 years ago and winter clothing was no where near as advanced as what we have now. |

I was in Valles Mines Missouri. A very small farm town off Hwy 67. I have no idea what the town looks like these days, could be a big town now? As I remember it was -28 with a -68F wind chill. Of course I could just be delusional! I turned 21 there and boy did I do some drinking! I think Pabst blue ribbon is the local beer?

I know I shouldn't complain because alot of you live where it gets truly COLD, but my poor plants are not happy with the current weather we're having. We had a hard freeze last night, and it's supposed to be colder tonight. 28! It's going to take me a good hour to try to cover whatever plants I can. Hopefully my two bunches of nanners will make it through okay...

I'm sure getting tired of the rain and the cold nights, but I know that warmer weather is right around the corner... Right? :-)
I have an Ice Cream that I think is ready to bloom this summer, so am keeping a close watch on that one! The Apricot and Nectarine I was worried about are loaded with fruit! My two bunches of Orinoco's are doing well, but a bit on the small side. How is your Apple doing? |

The Apple is doing good! Today I made a bamboo kick stand for it. I think tomorrow I'll get a picture of the flower bud and post it.
Sounds like your garden is doing fine even with the nasty weather. I know we have spring rains here but jeeeze! Enough allready!!!! I have seeded the lawn and put steer manure out twice after the rain washed it away the first time. I guess it could be even worse like it's been in Hawaii. I heard they had rain for 60 days straight. Today was their first real sunshine they have had in a while! ![]() What happened to the no rain forecast we had here? Maybe the global warming is making it more difficult to predict the weather? |
