Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
Beautiful pups. Do you put them under shade cloth to establish and grow on?

Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
Sometimes but not always, it's really based on which substrate was used.

Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
That's a great looking plant, do you use bottom heat initially to encourage root growth?

The most common mistake I see people make is they try to regulate soil aeration with the use of water. If an error is made it usually leads to root and or rhizome rot. I take a very different approach, I start with more soil aeration than is necessary and just keep maximizing the soil moisture. If an error is made it will be because I forgot to add water and that will only lead to slower growth. If there is enough air there can never be too much water as long as the ambient temperature is adequate.

Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
Those pups look great! Are they Florida or AEAE? I’m still working on telling the difference between the two. Just when I think I’ve got them figured out, I learn something new haha. Are you selling these?

Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
Every year I make them available but how many I sell just depends if members are successful or not. It's not enjoyable for me if members fail and I don't want to waste my time shipping substrate or writing the same posts time after time. Members need to be successful and then help the next group be successful.

Re: Time to separate the variegated pups
No. I've been using CCS (clean coarse sand) since the 1960's, it works great, lasts forever, and it's free. If I was to buy a substrate I would buy horticultural sand which is exactly the same thing, just not free

mchris752, the VDPA was sent with all it's roots so depending on where you plant it some or most of the roots may need to be pruned. Happy Growing

The AeAe I got from Rene didn't make it thru the winter. I would like to get a couple of pups from you. Dan
