my namwah pearl is looking really bad, much worse than last winter. I'm not sure it's going to make it!

So sorry to hear that. Sounds almost like they are genetically programmed to go without some unknown ingredient.

Mine is also having a tough time of it. The other one died about 1 1/2 months ago. It was fine one day and then the next day took a nose dive. It never recovered. There wasn't anything to try to save by TC, so it just faded away.
The other was doing ok, but had quite a battle with fungus gnats. I covered the soil with vermiculite. I may need to re-pot it in sterile soil as I think the larvae may be affecting the roots. It is running a fever now and sniffling. |

Clare has a nice one she posted in her thread a week or two ago. I was surprised there weren't comments about it.

I was never overly impressed with mine. I thought it just looked like an unhealthy, chlorotic banana. Luckily, I traded for mine and didn't spend any $$ other than shipping another plant to the person I got mine from.

Clare, is this the one you bought from mda1515? If it is, it's the same thing I got last year as n w 'pearl'. In case anyone missed it in the other n w thread, here is is (was)...
Anyway, it's dead, but I think this actually something called 'miami gold'. And, yes, it hated the sun - and apparently our really cold winter too. The pictures somewhere around here of the real n w 'pearl' look nothing like this. Maybe those pics were in varieg8's gallery. I wish he'd clear this up, whatever this sun hating, slow growing, tennis ball green thing really is. Russell |
