Very nice-looking goldfinger, Tony! Congrats on the pre-pre inflorescence. Let us know how the bunch turns out!

Thanks . For me the goldfinger has been my fastest grower. From pup to flower in about one year.

Harvey you don't have to wait 5 months. This bunch has been on since the first of the year.

In our climates the ripening sometimes takes longer when they start or finish in the cool season. When do you estimate Tony? Late May or early to mid June?

That sounds about right The first Goldfinger took about six months. I have some bunches of Namwah that have been on for over six months that flowered October 09.

It also stunts the fruit. The White Iholena had fruit only about 2". Basically they didn't grow after the first month.

Thanks Tony!

My White Iholena has not flowered yet, that is good information to keep in mind!

I hope your posts don't condense!

Looks like they did!

The wet winter did in my Iholenas . One flowered and the fruit never grew. The other one just had the beginning of a flag and was taken out by the last strong winds. I need to get one to flower early spring.

Stumpy, I posted pics in 'Container' forum ..."Need a bigger pot ASAP". It looked like a flag to me, but now I see a new leaf growing out of it & Tony said it is prolly the "shorter leaf before the flag". So, we think the leaf coming out will be flag.

Looks the Manzano is going to send up a flag. Three years from TC. The newest leaf is half the length of the others.

question?? can you prevent a mature plant from blooming?
my understanding is when plant blooms after mother plant dies?
is that correct?
if so.. i have 2 big ensetes.. 1 glaucum..other is maurelli..
i doubt they will bloom this yr..even with short season i have here..
but..id hate to loose a big plant..
sure appreciate insight on this..
thanks much !!!

Which ever p-stem flowers is the one that will die Only the p-stem dies the corm and pups will survive..I don't believe you can keep a plant from blooming it's going to bloom when it's ready.
