Re: red thai banana on the "bay"
Don't waste your money!! Stop the bidding !! Tony Avent of Plant Delights has this species in tissue culture, according to a source that says that he talked to him the other day and told him that. That was posted on another board, so take it for what it's worth. I know that he did have one plant that he brought back from Thailand that died (supposedly), so I'm sure he's been actively searching for another. If he has it, you can be sure it went straight to the lab for TC. Anyhow, the price for the last one went for over $450 (Same seller, btw). You can be sure that a tc plant will not sell for anywhere near that price. Hopefully, it can be tc'ed...

Re: red thai banana on the "bay"
I don't want to post the link, because I don't want this fellow receiving buckets of email from everyone who reads it. You understand.

Re: red thai banana on the "bay"
Ok its ending today and its at 112 bucks. I can't believe that the AeAe went for 355 and this is as low as it is. This is a much harder to find plant.
I did talk to Tony Avent yesterday and yes, he does have this in TC. YAY!!!!!!!!!! Zac |

Re: red thai banana on the "bay"
I would think within a year or 2 probably( no promises however). I didn't ask when, just if he really did have them in TC. He also has a very neat variegated Ice Cream that he's watching in his garden.

Re: red thai banana on the "bay"
Mitchel- I saw it for the first time a little over a month back. I asked him about it. He said he had left it out last winter to see if it was hardy. I asked if he had a spare just in case. He said no. I am glad it made it through this past winter. I have pics of it, but I am still using film. Gabe wants to see the pics and I will post them when I get them developed. I promise.
