Default New banana flower, what's normal?

Hello bananians! What's normal with a new flower?
I had Basjoo flower last fall only to watch it freeze to death

I have a new one now but when i first saw it i wasn't so sure, it looked like a choke. it had a bulge in the stem and what looked like a jammed up leaf up top. didn't budge an inch for over a week. One day I was sure it was a flower and the next day, a choke. It went on like that for awhile until the bud slowly started to show itself

Now that I knew it was a flower, I noticed it was about to fall twords the brick wall 3 feet away. I guess it was shy. It was lucky I noticed that early enough to coax it the other way, or else we would of had to look at it from the back. Has anyone else had to do this?

going twords the house

away from the house

It's very short since it only had 3 leaves since it was cut off at about 2 feet for the winter. There is still about 4 months of good growing left this season, How lucky is that? Always something new with these guys.
Oh it's Musa Basjoo and I am going to try and eat around the seeds!
