i purchased this banana from a local nursury for 20$ last year and it was labeled as a basjoo BUT it had these red-ish markings on the new leaves -was it a lie? oh! it died btw and diddnt come back and it was about 6ft tall
it made no pups either ,any idea? Thanxx ![]()

Sounds more like it was a Cavendish type. I've seen vendors sell Cavendish as basjoo before as well. I don't know if they don't know the difference, don't care, or maybe they are just selling it as what they received it as. To my knowledge, however, basjoo does not have the reddish markings on young leaves.
