![]() Those little ones are male flowers, not bananas. U can cut the flower bud off now if you want but don`t have to. It may speed up the filling-out of the bananas, and will clean things up a bit.

![]() I'm lost, why do some of the flowers turn into bananas and the rest not?

![]() Cause if they all turned into banana's we'd have more banana's than we need. How many hands and how many fingers per hand would really have no merit if they all turned into banana's.. :^)

![]() Hijacking for a dumb and poorly worded question. Obviously bananas that don't produce viable seeds have no use for the "boys" so they're just there but would they be instrumental if you were attempting to cross seeded with non? Or are they really forever worthless? (Common figs have no male parts; they're inverted flowers.)

![]() Sorry. I know very little about growing bananas but I do know that, since the seedless ones are very dedicated virgins, the flower and the little boy fingers contribute nothing to what you'll harvest. In other words, if they bother you, you can get rid of both without harm. Would I? Probably not. My DC hasn't bloomed and the 4 other potted pups I have aren't close. And I can't even prick out seedlings growing too close together; even though I have far too many I'll try to transplant them.

Dwarf Cavendish ![]() Small underdeveloped fingers can be caused by environment, less than favorable growing conditions will cause stress and reduce yield for example cold temperatures, low lighting, too much or too little water are just some of the factors that can affect bunch weight. There is a direct link between K (Potassium) and the amount of hands, size of fingers and the time it takes for a bunch to mature. That being said adding more K does not always equal larger bunches because there are other factors that can reduce K uptake and affect bunch weight. I am not a cold weather basement growing banana expert, to me they look fine and I would follow Migael's advice leave it alone unless you start to see signs of mold.

![]() I honestly wish you'd answer a question just once, Tony. I know how to search (my first degree was in history) but part of participating in a forum is sharing what you know or think you know. I do my best to do that very stupidly when I think I might have something to add. Trust me--I don't post nearly all the dumb responses I could--here or other places.
