My Blooming Musa 'Little Prince'

This is the first picture of M. 'Little Prince' blooming on bananas.org:

'Little Prince' left of 'Truly Tiny':

The pots are 17" diameter x 15" high. The 'Little Prince' pseudostem is 25" high. Both plants were obtained from Florida Hill Nursery in May 2016. Of course, there is a possibility that these plants were mislabeled. My Little Prince never looked like the one shown here:

Congrats,

What has your feeding routine been with them since 2016, have you had to give them extra potash and nitrogen and i assume you have been continuing growing them over winter months indoors, since you are zone 6.

I think it is a truly tiny because the ends of leaves are more flat and wide opposed to being long and narrow like the super dwarf cavendish that I have

Both of my Little Princes had a very large bulge at the base of the pstem like this pic from Agristarts.

Both of the princes died during their 1st winter inside. However, these do look like my Truely Tinys.

Good looking plant and nice flower though.

Thanks for showing me the swollen base which my plant never had. After buying these plants, I had a bad experience with Florida Hills Nursery that led me to believe that they are sloppy and/or dishonest so I no longer buy from them. Now, I will have to buy "Little Prince' from a different vendor but a Google search shows that most vendors are out of stock and the ones that aren't want a high price.

I have been growing Little Prince for 8yrs now. To date mine has never bloomed. Little Prince takes at least 15 months of warm temps to bloom I was told. We freeze here in Texas and even protected they freeze to the ground and come back beautiful the following year. I was told in Texas blooms are pretty rare so I am waiting patently, if it doesn't bloom that's ok, it is a beautiful plant. thick large dark green leaves with stems 3ft tall.
I believe what you have is a Truly Tiny

I have plenty of smaller plants of my blooming whatever to trade for a 'Little Prince' with a swollen pseudostem base. Let me know, if anyone wants to trade.

i have a couple Little Prince small pups that i could dig up and send. if you would like, i am down for a trade on a couple mystery dwarf nanners. I do not have Truly Tiny if that is what it is. I do also grow SDC and yours doesn't resemble it so i feel it is Truly Tiny.

Thanks ... I fixed the spelling of 'both' in my above post... the forum went down while I was making the post Sunday morning. I wasn't even sure the post went through until this morning. ... Sorry guys for breaking the forum again.

A number of sellers will pass off Truly Tiny or SDC as being a Little Prince. It's not hard to stunt the growth of those with small pots. Look for the bulge; much thicker pstem; and green waxy looking leaves on the Little Prince. ... Look at the picture in the forum wiki for the comparison of the LP and a SDC. The LP is on the left.

Many claim the LP is an extra small Cavendish, but I don't believe the 'real deal' is. May be it is to those that try to pass off the TT & SDC as being a LP. ... Anyway that is debatable.

I've been too busy with my other bananas to try more TP right now.

Try cutting one of the fingers off and split it down the middle. Does it have any seeds? Post a picture if you can.

Assuming it is an eatable type nana instead of a seeded ornamental. Waiting for it to turn yellow might take 4 to 6 months.

It’s 100% a super dwarf cavendish. It won’t be seeded. All modern super dwarf types are from the same line.

Congrats! You will have a few little nanners. They taste great. Any home grown cavendish is 10x better than store bought. Great job!
