![]() I am going to try and keep up with this rare nanner for you. Only my second Muraru bunch. I did not bother to take pictures of the first bunch.

![]() Really interested in this strain. Gabe says its like a fruity version of gros michel, which sounds AMAZING. Yield is supposedly good too.
Any updates? Great to see this variety in development. Last edited by lukem5 : 07-11-2014 at 06:44 AM. |

![]() Looking good.
maybe it was the muraru mulalu that was the tart tasting one. I think the mulalu also ripens yellow, and has similiar giant bunches. Ah, yes here's a post by gabe about the mulalu, apparently has a nice fruity/tart flavor. Would love to get my hands on this one! Well, considering their size, my arms around them. Which banana cultivar has the frutiest flavor? |

![]() Gabe sent me those pictures with the plant that he gave me. I did not take pictures of my first bunch because they did not get to that size. They were the size of Cavs. The bunch that I have now is different. It will probably be more like that Mshale picture. Much longer fingers than the first bunch. I donʻt have Mulalu but I would not be surprised if they also ripened green. They are really closely related. The ripened green nanas actually surprised me. I had been waiting for about 4 months, and the fingers were getting plump… I started to see a few bananas splitting while still green. I thought it was a disease or something so I text Gabe. He said that they were ready to eat. They did not seem all that acidic to me but I had a bunch of Manzano that ripened at the same time, and the Manzanoʻs apple twang might have made me think that the Mshale was not all that acidic or tart. Canʻt wait for a second try.

What did you do differently to get a bigger bunch the second time? |

![]() Nothing much. I actually used less fert. I think the ratoon crop is just stronger. It's also about four feet taller.

![]() I always find that too. Taller and bigger bunches after the first rack. Was most extreme with 1000 fingers.
