Default Micheal Gros fungus?

Hi,

I bought a couple of Bananas (Micheal Gros) from FL Hill Nursery this year, and today, I noticed what appears to be a black fungus on the lower leaves. If anyone has experienced a similar problem, could you help me ID the problem and suggest a remedy (see photos in gallary)?

TIA,

Bryan

The plant appears to be in a pot so my guess would be too much water combined with lack of drainage in the soil. I would estimate that 80%-90% of the issues with plants in pots is overwatering and soil drainage. If its outside then you could have had a great deal of rain recently and the plant is water logged.

Thanks,

Since the beginning of June, we've been receiving daily rainfall in my area. I planted both of them today and plan to trimmed them back later. Hopefully, they'll take off again. One day, I'd like to eat a Big Mike Banana. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Mine have identical symptoms with the black markings on all the leaves. They were all good until our winter hit. Every other banana variety growing in close proximity has no sign of this disease. I'm guessing they are not as cold tolerant?
