I just bought one from Jon and still a pup but I planted it on the ground in my plat.
My knowledge on this banana is nil. I bought it because I read somewhere that it will flower in 8 months but now I am confused as someone said it will grow up to 17 feet.

I wish GATrops would pipe in on this one as I believe they had some of these in the test site at the Savannah Bamboo Gardens. If I am not mistaken it was starting to send out a leaf last weekend and man talking about tall!!!! They had another one that they had cut the pstem to the ground on and the sheer girth of that thing was huge... There was a 2' section cut from the pstem laying there that looked like a log that needed to be split to fit in a fireplace. It had to be at least 2 1/2' in diameter!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun to grow, only problem is I will have to put it under the house every year.

If I am right in my assessment of the one in Savannah, I could not imagine the size of the corm on that thing. Like I said the pstem was a good 2-2 1/2' in diameter!!! I know it would not fit under my house!!!

Fast Grower, seems unaffected by our "cold " weather. Very bright yellow when ripe. Ripens in 10-12 weeks in San Diego. Pix at figs4fun home

It isn't a standout like Misi Luki, etc., but better than store bananas.
