Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Thanks, Frank! I run out there several times a day to check on it. :)
I've only had Orinoco blooms, so this is a real treat! |
Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Yes, your nanner is definitely preggers. Congrats! Looking forward to seeing more pics of it developing...
Be well, Mike Quote:

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Awesome Anna! I'm still waiting for mine to bloom. It had a rough winter plus a lot of pup removal. I think after I harvest it I'm going to remove it and the pups while my wife is at work. :ha: She says she loves to see it when she pulls up at night but I have others I'd rather plant in it's place. :bananarow:

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Hmmmm.... something is very wrong with that last post. The wife loves it but you would dig it up??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds wrong to me!!! :)
On the other hand, then you would have pups to sell and I could buy them! LOL! My husband ignores the yard so much that I had to show him my gallery pics here so he could see how much the nana plants have grown. |
Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Shows you how nanner-stupid I am, that just looks like a regular leaf to me. Ill just have to wait for the updated pictures, which you will hopefully (please!) provide. Now you have me checking my ice cream nanner every....oh 10 minutes or so...

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
I've already been out looking at it twice this morning. :)
I'm going to take more pictures later in the day. It's really starting to show up well now. |
Better picture!

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Hey Anna, is this your first flag leaf for any of your nanners? I think that is way cool. Will you let it go dormant before winter or continue to let it grow? I just wish I could get any of mine to grow more than 3 or 4 feet. Just bought a greenhouse and I can't believe the difference of how the air feels inside the house as opposed to outside. How ofter should I let the air vent in order to release the oxygen and allow more CO2?
|
Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Your venting concern should be about keeping the greenhouse from over-heating. The very organic soil that the plants are growing in release more than enough CO2 to make the nanners happy.

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Hi imdocrob,
I have had Orinoco blooms and nanners. But this with the IC's is very exciting as I have had so many people, including local nurseries, tell me that we can't grow edible bananas here! I've actually had two landscaping companies out to work on our sprinkler system who had no idea there were other banana plants besides Orinocos. I started a new thread for my IC since this one is getting a bit long... :) :05: |
Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!

Re: I think one of my Ice Cream's has a Flag!
Hi AnnaJW,
I think it would be a very educational if you can post the pictures which show the progression of Ice Cream flowering. Something like a daily picture snapshot. Congrats! -Simon |
