How Many?
My Misi Luki and my Manzano have been putting out fruit, and I was wondering when should I cut off the flower? Sure it will stop putting out more bananas. Like how many hands of fruit do you guys leave on your stalk? My Misi Luki has about 11 hands and is still producing more. As for my Manzano it's has about 8 hands and is still producing fruit. I will love to hear your guys results with what you do to your stalks

Re: How Many?
I've always left the flower alone until it started producing male flowers and then sometimes cut it off a little ways below the last hand. Nick reported in a post (updated yesterday) how he chose to limit the number of hands on Dwarf Namwah to produce larger fruit. Based on that, it appears there is sometimes a benefit in limiting the number of hands of fruit, maybe when conditions are not optimal (Nick says he planted his Dwarf Namwah too close together).

Re: How Many?
I believe Gabe once wrote that a study showed that removing the bud after appearance of male flowers didn't make any significant difference. Again, maybe in less than ideal growing conditions it's more likely to help.

Re: How Many?
I always let mine go until they stop producing on there own; then again, I don't live in the most optimal climate for bananas either, so I don't really want to limit how many they put on. I suppose it's an individual choice. Having said that, I do tend to remove the bud a couple of weeks after it has changed over to all-male flowers.

Re: How Many?
You can cut it about 4-6 inches from the last hand of fruit after it's done making fruit. I leave my flower buds on if winter is close to provide food for the humming birds.
