Default Help ID possible Canna

So my favorite landscaper called me yesterday saying he was getting rid of some plants his crews had dug up. There were several clumps of what appeared to be Curacuma Aeruginosa, however he cliamed it was a Canna. The stems threw me but the leaves resembled Curacuma Aeruginosa. Any ideas?

Definitely not a canna. It does appear to be a Curcuma, but I'm not sure on the species.

It's Curcuma Scarlet Fever. A shy booomer unless given a lot of sun. Blooms in the spring. It goes completely dormant here but returns in the spring. I have a nice sized planting of this hidden ginger. It's a real nice one. I'm not sure of it's hardiness in your zone but if it was growing there already, maybe it is.

This is a real fine substitute for you palm enthusiasts who would like to grow the Red Sealing Wax Palm but can't.
