Endless Rain
So we're 10 days in (around 2-3") with 10 more days forecast (additional 4-5").
My musa basjoo look horrible. Leaves come out fine, but curl on the edges and get sun baked between storms. Should I hold off fertilizing until they dry out? |

Re: Endless Rain
I had about 3.2" since the May 14th. Mostly about 1/4 per day.
Wish we could get back the Georgia normal of daily afternoon summer Thunder showers. Which we haven't had in several years. |

If your plants are in container that is what they do. If the plant is in the ground they should be growing with the weather If you have a black container move it to shade. Container temps get to 120+ in the direct sun...not good. What does sunbaked mean? lots of sun or toasted in the sun in a hot container? If you have BLACK mulch around your plant that also adds stress to your plant lots of it especially if it is small. If the plant is in the ground fertilize it. We will fertilize before they come up in zone 5-6 March,April. Any fertilizer triple 12-19 garden fertilizer will work for these beasts. Use what is economical and what you can afford. The plants will love you for it. |

Re: Endless Rain
Thanks everyone!
Here comes Alberto. Stood in the drizzle yesterday unclogging my gutters from pecan flowers. Those things are evil. Cinci - mine are in the ground, not particularly dark mulch, just way too much water.....the plants look fine but then the edges of the leaves turn brown....one more week of rain and then I'll see if they look better (but hey, they are getting tall in a hurry this year!) |

It's coming your way. The storm is expected to make landfall about Monday. It has a wide foot print. You should start seeing rain real soon. |

Re: Endless Rain
Growing here in gulf shores, looks like Alberto is on a direct route for us. Not worried about the rain (although we're already saturated) but sustained 65 mile per hour wind probably isn't ideal for growing bananas

Re: Endless Rain
That is ideal for me and my ducks & chickens either. ... I'll have to get a can of this high priced gas in case the generator is needed.
