 Buyer Beware

How do I go about a posting for a seller of bananas that has received payment and is negligent in mailing the plant?
Is there a group for this type? I am aware many people here do business with Ebay. But this person has done wrong. thanks for input. |

 Re: Buyer Beware

Try googling "Garden watchdog" or something like that. It's a feature on the "Daves Garden" forum/site, and is really helpful for checking peoples feedback. TY TY used to be on there too, but they filed a lawsuit against Daves Garden, so he took theirs off.
Maybe you should contact them again, if the plant never shows then give them a bad rating on ebay, and sometimes all it takes it threatening to file mail fraud against them, but it pays to be careful about overreacting. I hope you get your banana. |

		Hey Carmensol (shopgirl),
You scared the heck out of me with this post. I thought you were talking about me. Didn't read your thank you email sent before this post until after logging on to B.org. Now I know everything is OK. I've been having problems with my computer lately and I can't open Outlook Express first after logging on. Connectivity will be lost. However, if I open Bananas.org first thru Yahoo, and then open Outlook everything is OK. It didn't used to be like this - it's a new problem. So glad you recieved the Saba, dwf Orinoco and Pitogo in good shape. I know I went overboard with the packing technique. It's a combination of Going Bananas and Stokes methods. Nothing moves around and the roots will stay damp for a week at least. PM me for questions, and how the plants are doing anytime. Dan |

Carmensol, what is the user's name on Ebay?
If you don't want to post it here just yet then PM it to me. Just curious because I am friends with a couple of people who sell bananas there and I was wanting to see if it was one of them... if it is someone I know I can give them a ring and find out what the deal is. -James- |

Valerie, I just do what I can :D ... I must note though, that the people I know that sell on ebay are really good people that honor their word but you never know if something happened to them (ailment, family emergency, etc.) that may have prevented them from getting things out on time.

 Re: Buyer Beware

You should go onto e-bay and open a dispute for the item.
It will walk you through it. That way, ebay will be able to help you receive your item, or satisfaction for it. It is also possible that the item was sent and somehow was pilfered before you got your mail. That happened to one of my customers. The usps confirmation showed they received it, but they never did receive it. I ended up sending them another one since I had several. But there are several options that you can take to remedy the situation. |

 Re: Buyer Beware

USPS Confirmation means NOTHiNG. The letter-carrier marks that it was delivered, but the recipient/addressee doen't have to sign for it, see it, or even be notified that it was "delivered". It is NOT proof of delivery, only proof that the letter-carrier marked it off his list.

 Re: Buyer Beware

Since we are on the subject of buyer beware. Never bid or buy anything that does not have the shipping total or estimated amount for shipping. There was an Ebayer I had a run in with. She had an item that she claimed was to big to fit into her car to mail out. She expected the buyer to pay for the pick-up from a moving company, packaging from UPS at her house with shipping. The total for the junk she was selling ended up being three times as much as the item. After the inquiry with all these added fees she was reported to Ebay to advise buyers of the added fees. The item was taken off shortly afterwards. So be careful if something is too big or heavy weight.

I have lost on a sale, but could have lost more. another lesson to learn. This transaction took place BEFORE I knew about htis wonderful forum, bananas.org. Just be careful when dealing with some vendors on E-Bay. |

 Re: Buyer Beware

I paid $50.00 in shipping from the UK (didn't read carefully enough before I bid), after I noticed my mistake I asked why it was so high, and that I thought it was too much. He just said that with import costs and permit fee that it what it would come to. I didn't belive him but paid anyway. It arrived without any permit, with a label that didn't say it was a plant, with postage for about $6.00. I complained and got threats in return, so I wrote up a bad review for him, and in turn got I bad review for myself. Then he requested through Ebay that we both take down our bad reviews, but I'm stubborn and wouldn't do it even though it made my approval percentage look bad.
Even with feedback it's hard to tell if someone is on the up and up because of the blackmail type tactics that are employed in retailiation. Have had good luck with most sellers though. |

Back to the topic of this discussion, I don't understand why you don't report this eBay user's ID here. At a minimum, can you at least tell us if you have left negative feedback for the seller? I don't think you want someone else to experience the same fate as you did. Please PM me the ID if you still don't want to post it here in the forum. Thanks in advance. |

 Re: Buyer Beware

Guys I posted something very similar to this on the old Oasis forum about ebay scams and it turned out very bad. There was proof that sellers were bumping up the prices and I warned people not to buy and then I get mails from the mods saying stop it its Libel and they could get into trouble.
Things got blown out of poportion and in the end Oasis collapsed. PM s are the best way to push this guys name around not on a public forum. Even I would like to know who these sellers are to avoid making the same mistake and buying from them expecially the uk seller. |

 Re: Buyer Beware

		Harvey,
I haven't experienced a "confirmed delivery" that wasn't actually delivered. But the extra expense doesn't actually get you any real proof of delivery (and remember they are usually lea ving it in a mail box, on the street, where it is convenient for anyone to grab, as opposed to on the porch, or elsewhere). There is a different service, for a fee, which requires the recipients signature. Along the same line, when a signature is required, and I am not at home, they leave a slip to pick it up at the PO. In ten years, they have never been able to find the package on the first or second trip - always, always, always turns into a nightmare. That's why I much prefer UPS. |

The plant I bought from him was a "rose of Jerico" which is basically a small desert fern from the middle east, that dries out and curls up into a ball and stays dormant for a long time. |
