Wow. That's crazy for a first year plant.

It should be very close to flowering. I just got a pre-flag on my BJ and its 11-12' of pstem.

Big plant = Big bunch!

Just over 11' of pstem. There are 3 pups 6' or better and 4 others. I think it's in a good spot. Can't wait to see what I'll get.

I was beginning to wonder about that beast. Right at a year since you sent it. Awesome specimen.

I need to figure out what you and Akula are using on those plants, y'all got them going in beast mode.

I seem to have found a great spot in my yard, the pup was a baller and I've used Grow More Fruit Fuel pretty regularly. I may or may not have thrown a dead squirrel on the mulch at some point...

Bottom line is that if Akula has pups for sale grab one.

The key with banana plants is regularly feeding them. They are more like animals than plants in that they really need to be fed on a consistent monthly basis during the growing season. My soil is very rich with organic matter and I mulch weekly with St. Augustine grass clippings but I still feed my plants monthly because they will suck it out. They are voracious! Lots of water and sun too.

Looking good!

I count about 14-16 fingers per hand which is a good healthy number of fingers per hand. The fingers will probably take about six weeks to turn blue. Mine have never been blue out of the gate.
