Blue Java Bananas! Pensacola
Whoever sold me this blue Java a few years ago, thank you! I think his name was Tony. This is such a prolific bloomer. (Right word?)
She has been through hard freezes and a hurricane. Lost last last years bunch in Hurricane Sally. Wondering if I should cover the bunch. If so when? Now? |

Hard to tell from that photo, but it does look like the fingers terminate to individual knuckles and not the "palm" like a namwah. Hard to tell from photo but I would guess blue java. I also think I notice browning at the base of the fingers, which is how mine started and eventually the bunch shrivled and died.Akula had the same issue, How many leaves does the fruiting stem have?

Yours look good so far.. starting to take on the blue tint. When yours shriveled a few years ago, how many leaves did the plant have? I believe mine died because the fruiting stem only had 2 leaves when it flowered.

For those living in Texas, my HEB has about 4 ft Blue Java plants for 15.98. Also have Gran Nam and Dwarf Cavendish at my HEB. Nice looking and healthy looking plants. If interested, might want to check them out. Assuming only the larger stores with garden shop would have them... Wendy
