Default Better Late Than Never?

I noticed about two weeks ago that my Dwarf Cavendish was about flower just before I left for vacation. When I got back the bud had dropped over and it already had four hands of fruit. They look to be dong well but I know it's going to get too cold before long for them to ever be able to fully develop. It's sort of a bummer because my Orinoco flowered very late and now the DC, so no home-grown bananas for me this year.

I was really hoping for fruit out of my Ice Cream, Raja Puri, California Gold, and Hua Moa this year as well but it was far too dry and I guess I didn't pump enough water to them. Oh well, there's always next year. Good luck to all of you in colder zones in getting your bananas through the winter.

No building a makeshift greenhouse/teepee/shelter around the banana plants with fruit? ~Cheryl

Yeah, build a little makeshift greenhouse over it with some sort of heating source like x-mas lights.

I'd definitely go with the make-shift greenhouse idea ! Gotta be worth a shot!
Also, definitely agree with Pete:

You know, I'd do the make-shift greenhouse idea but I may be moving. If we end up not selling our house, I'll definitely consider doing this.

Pete- I did take some pics of it yesterday so if I get time, I'll try to post for you. My life has been very busy lately and I just haven't had time for such things. I'll see what I can do, though.
