Regular Cavendish, Grand Nain, Dwarf Cavendish, Williams Hybrid... and then when they get to the supermarket they are labeled as Chiquita, Dole or Del Monte bananas.
But then there are also plantains now sold, also the Red bananas. If you visit Asian stores in California, we've got more: Saba, Senorita, Orinoco, Manzano, etc. |

I found some reds and.............
 .......................................... ...............lady fingers at VONS!! I couldn't believe my eyes.  They taste pretty nice but were far from ripe when picked and shipped just like the regular store bought bananas always are. Still they taste way better then the others! The skins were thin and tough to peel which won't appeal to the masses but I didn't care. |

That's what we need - the regular yeller nanners for "them" and the diverse collection of nanners for those of us who appreciate them! So much work and effort seems to be going into reproducing the standard yellow nanner so the common public will buy it...

Just found this thread...
I have found what are labelled "baby bananas" at Tom's Farm's produce stand that is near by in Corona, CA. I wish I knew what type they are. Very, very good! This is the only banana our Cockatoo really goes, uh, banana's, for...
