What kind is it? We grow veggies in aerated water containers, fish aquariums, and they thrive very well. Do you expect them to grow larger?

The first smaller one is dwarf cavendish. I thought the bigger one was dwarf cavendish too. And it might be but it sure has taken off growing this year. So if it is dwarf cavendish it might not grow very big.

This is very cool! I have never seen anyone grow bananas in water before...

I wish I had a pond but I don't think we are allowed to have any in my little trailer park. All I can do is have small water lotus tubs everywhere. No one will stop water gardening!

Hi Vicky,

as one who is out of yard space for additional anything, but can probably wrestle up some pond space, providing
I crowd some water lilies out of space, I have a bunch of questions for you:
  • Are these plants outside? Year around?
    - What is your hardiness zone?
    - I presume, that these bananas are rooted in a soil filled pot?
    - How deep is the top of the soil below the water level?
    - Do you have any experience with deeper water levels?
    - Does your water level vary more that 2 - 3 inches?
    - My M. Basjoo, kept outside dies off to below frost level. Do you have any experience with the water freezing?
Our pond is of course much too deep, and the water level changes up to 2 feet, but I probably come up with
some sort of stationary floating devise, which will keep the pot at even depth.

Anyway your approach is very exiting to me and may be applicable in a modified form to my pond environment.

Best and thank you in advance,
Olaf
