Several years ago when my dad saw my first bunch of fruit he said he thought it looked pretty good and that it should do even better the following year. I explained to him that it would die shortly after I harvested the fruit. He said it was stupid to be growing if they only fruited once. I reminded him that he had grown thousands of acres of corn plants. Somehow I think this is related to this discussion.
