I have discovered as a Australian Banana Grower that there is a lot of Different Cultivator names in use so here goes my atempt to translatre our varieties.
Australian term first then = Bananas.org term Pisang Celon = Mysore, poovan Vallery = Vallery Blugoe = Orinico Rajapuri = Rajapuri Ducasse = Suggar = Pisang Awak = Namwah Red Dacca = Jamican Red More to come any comments or corrections Please![]() Last edited by NSW Bananas : 04-28-2012 at 05:41 AM. Here in the United States, the clone of Misi Luki that we have is not Mysore/Pisang Ceylon, but a Pisang Awak variety. The true Misi Luki is in the Mysore subgroup. Just wanted to point that out.

I'd avoid equating "Sugar" with Ducasse. It may be used that way, but Sugar I think more commonly refers to Sucrier ("Baby Banana"), which is not related to Ducasse. Pisang Awak is the subgroup that contains Ducasse. Red Dacca = Red, which some people call Jamaican red. |
