Question Ants On Basjoo

Just planted my Basjoo in the ground. I put mulch around it. Today there were ants on the leaves. I have ant traps. Should I use them, or insecticide
such as seven. I don't know if they are harmful to banana plants. Anyone have some answers?
Thank You
Raggedy

The ants are probably exploring the new feature in their yard. A light spraying of Sevin on the plant and the ground you disturbed will kill those present on contact and the others are likely to avoid the area for awhile.

If in the future when you use up your bottle of Sevin, consider replacing it with an economically priced bottle of Pyrethrin-based pesticide (per cost and dosage), or Bayer Powerforce with Cyfluthrin (a synthetic pyrethrin).

Ants are great things to have on your plants unless they're herding aphids .

As far as I know they don't do too much damage. I've got literally thousands of yellow ants living in my garden and they seem harmless. I guess it depends on the type of ant you have. In rainy UK Slugs seem to be the main pest lately and they love my babana plants!

Laura's collecting her duck eggs and we're putting in the incubator at the end of the week .... she'll give you a duck whenever you want one.

Look for aphids, usually when you see ants on plants where they don't usually congregate, they're bringing aphids with them.
