![]() Why separate???? Once the pstem blooms it dies or after 3 or 4 years of not blooming the pstem will die. That piece of corm you cut off helps to make the main corm bigger & stronger. You likely cut off near 1/2 of the existing corm. .... If you separate, do it when the pup is 18" to 2ft tall.

You are correct .... my bad .... I've a couple that were bigger than that. there is a post somewhere on the forum about the size. I think it was 14" or 16" dia. Anyway a pstem at that size wasn't long from budding/flowering. |

![]() i've removed some big pups like that with zero issues on the mother producing good rack in the not so distant future. for sure there is some impact but I believe the mother recovers fairly quickly
