Ouch, and over $50 to ship it to my area! They don't say whether or not it will be bare rooted, just that the leaves will be cut off.

mm... 250 is indeed a bit too expensive.
I know somebody who bought one for 40 euro's.. but they are not sold anymore. I also think they are too difficult for me, bad climate for it and you need a special soil or so , isn't it?

That eBay item in the $250 range is coming from Hilo, Hawaii in the Big Island, not Thailand. |

The Hilo ones look like good plants and the last one was not so expensive, it is big.
Mike if you have a list of AeAe buyers to be please put me on it for next year. If I wait until next year then the price of even the Hilo ones will be ok , but with all the restocking this year after my self imposed Winter kill , I'm a bit short ![]() All the Best Steve

I wanted to bid on the next one, but I'm having difficulty communicating with the Seller. I was asking if can wait for me to send him the instructions and paperwork from the USDA before digging out the plant for shipping, and he replied that he'll dig it out after he receives the payment. This scares me in that he might just do that. As an import permit holder, I am required to send him instructions on the plant packaging, certifications, etc., plus the package has to be labeled with a green and yellow label from APHIS, that has a preprinted address of the USDA Inspection Service station. The package cannot be sent directly to my home. It has to be sent to the USDA Inspection service station, who after inspection, will forward it to my home. If the package is addressed directly to me, the package my be refused entry. Has anyone bought anything from this Seller? If so, was he able to follow the protocol? |

I just received some plants from this seller on Tues. Everything came in good shape. I bought a Florida variegated and what he called a Ta-nee. The corms will be wash and leaves cut off. No roots either. But there was no problem with shipping. It took around 5 days for the plants to arrive in Florida from Thailand.

Now, with your purchase, am I to understand that the Seller just sent you the plant directly, without any paperwork (outside of a Phytosanitary Certificate that he mentions in his ad), and without going to through the APHIS inspection station? Or did you first send him the green/yellow stick-on label from the USDA? Like I said, I would like to bid on his next one if I can be reasonably assured that it won't be confiscated at the post office. Thanks again for your feedback. Chong |
