No Pups?
I have 3 Musa Basjoo (I think) I transplanted in the fall of 2011. Given to me from an acquaintance who was moving.
Grew successful last year and all three are round 6-8 feet tall currently this year and look healthy and happy. I've yet to see any pups come up and was hoping for some to put in other areas of my yard. Would this to be expected? Anything I can do? Thanks! |

Re: No Pups?
Thank you all for your replies. I think I want to try some azomite (sp?) and continue adding compost when I can. That stuff sounds like it would help my veggie garden too.

Re: No Pups?
All my basjoo pups even one we dug up beside one plant and planted this year has pups and it is 4 ft tall. I have 6 clumps planted in different places.

Re: No Pups?
sometimes it just takes them a while. We had one that didn't make any pups for two years. Then it did. So don't worry, be happy :) 6-8 feet tall sounds great for this time of the year!

Re: No Pups?
This may be just a coincidence but when I learned that you should try to keep the corm dry I started watering a few inches out from the stem and I started getting more pups. The mats were planted in June 2012 and I am still learning so it may be something else. Experts please offer opinions for us students.
