Nice pics! Your yard looks great! Good luck with the cold, its penetrating pretty far south and pretty early in the year! The sad thing is that I live in NYC and I still dont have most of my bananas ready for winter yet and its almost mid November. I really have to start moving along before they get zapped!
Thanks for sharing! Im sure they will do fine. Thai black should survive your winters without protection so It will sail through with protection!

Oh and out of curiousity, were did you get the straw? I was looking for some to protect my plants with and a local Home Depot was selling small bushels (or whatever you would call it) for 8 dollars! I would probably need 10 of them to protect my plants and Im not spending 80 dollars for some straw! Hopefully I find some soon! I have to start looking before they get rid of all the fall things at the nursuries!

I've bought 10 bails of pinestraw at Lowes for $5.25 each. I could have driven around and raked it up, but the frost was coming tonite.

If no luck at Lowe's, you should find plenty of places out on L.I., most of the farm stands have bales of straw for cheap.
