![]() I am also thinking that the guy I bought it from may have known it was SH 3640 but got it mixed up with another. He was selling another plant as SH 3640 and this one as a mystery plant. I am thinking he got the 2 mixed up. Can't be sure though.

![]() Dwarf Brazilian is a parent of SH-3640 so it should be very cold hardy. Mine is getting size to it. It is a great looking plant! It looks a lot like goldfinger. Great Job Steve! I think you solved it!

![]() You will love FHIA 3 sweetheart. Mine flowered and died last year. This year the spring pup grew from 3' to 8' in a month and 2 weeks! Seriously! I've never seen anything as fast as sweetheart! It's a monster too. I dig up small sword suckers that come up with corms like a bowling ball. Haha

![]() Again, until we can see the full bunch and male bud, I don't think it will be possible to tell what it is from photos. At least the one pictured prior to bunching is too slender to be Dwarf Brazilian if near flowering size. SH-3640 is a possibility.

![]() Thanks Ty.
One reason I did not consider Goldfinger is the red edging on the wide open petioles. My goldfingers, I have both now, don't have as much or as dark red as what I saw in these pics.(As a matter of fact, the GF from Nick has no red on the petioles) But, 3640, when younger, could possibly be confused with GM because of these two traits, but the leaves are wider and darker green on 3640. My 3640 held up to 2 good frosts last winter without any effects, just like the Brazilian type I have and kept growing all winter long. If they taste as good as everyone says, 3640 is a keeper for sure. That said, everyone said Namwah is one of the best and I did not like them, so I hope I like the High Noon. (3640)

What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more. Last edited by sputinc7 : 06-18-2017 at 09:20 AM. |

![]() The fruit shape resembles Goldfingers, though. I can say with 100 % certainty it is a banana. A yellow one. All else is guesswork.
