Default My other “mystery tc” have bloomed. Help ID

Hello banana luvas lol.

Everyone was super helpful when my first of three tc banana plants from GreenEarth bloomed and let me know it wasn’t a Mysore which I had sort of figured. The unexpected hard freeze took the bunch out before anyone could make a positive ID but low and behold the other two put up flag leaves and have a bloom that should be opening anytime. One is supposed to be a gold finger which I’m pretty sure is crap since it’s only about 5 feet tall. The other is suppose to be a blue java and since I’ve yet to read of anyone on here getting a tc labeled a BJ that actually ended up being a blue java I’m going to assume it’s a Namwah. It is rather tall so getting photos will be a bit of a challenge.

I plan to go outside when I’m able to shake my toddlers off and take some photos and wanted to know what would be most helpful in identifying these plants and what angles etc I should get. I will be adding photos as the blooms progress each day and maybe you all can help me figure out what I have. Thanks in advance and I’ll add a photo link as soon as I can.

Here’s the link of the photos I took today. Basically the two plants I the photos are the two in question. Obviously the taller of the two (about 12-13 feet) was supposed to be a blue java. The smaller of the two was supposed to be gold finger but it looks EXACTLY like the first fruiting banana of the theee I purchased from greenearth. I expect it’s the same but I’ll know when the inflorescence starts to do its thing.

The last 6 photos are only the taller plant which is supposed to be blue java. The pups around each of the two look surprisingly similar but I included them in case it helps. The radius of the taller “blue java” is much thicker and has more green on the pseudo stem than the smaller plant with pups. Both put up a pre-flag flag leaf lol. Tried to get photos of both. The ones closer to eye level are the supposed gold finger and the ones at a higher angle are the supposed blue java.

Thanks again and will add to the album as they unfold

I added some more photos of the peduncle of each plant today. The taller of the two was harder because it is high up but it’s starting to tilt downwards now so I might get some better photos soon. Thinking of posting this in the main forum as I’ve had no feedback here yet. Happy 4th!

Be patient, it's still a little early to tell much, but on the tall one I will guess Namwah just because that is what green earth sent me for a Blue Java and the look of the flower.... They sell strong, healthy plants, just never what you order.
18 bracts after the last true hand and someone here will give you a more accurate diagnosis.

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

Thanks for the reply. I will continue to add pictures and try to get a step ladder to get some close ups. I’m pretty sure the smaller one is the same as the other of the three he sent me. Only a bit over 5 feet and waiting for the bracts to start showing themselves so I can confirm. No freeze to take them out this time so hopefully we can get a proper I’d thei time. I won’t clean the peduncle up or remove old flowers per recommendations last time around.
