Help with Identification
3 Attachment(s)
I purchased 3 different banana plants a few months ago. They were shipped as Blood Red, Musa Basjoo and Ice Cream. The Blood Red is definitely a Blood Red, I am not so certain about the other 2.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give in identifying them. See pictures below: |
Re: Help with Identification
DSC4124 is obviously your Blood Red
DSC4125 is most likely your Basjoo DSC4123 is most likely your Ice Cream (the red splotches on the leaves gave it away and this is usually absent with Basjoo). Where do I collect my prize ;) |
Re: Help with Identification
JoeReal,
My "Ice Cream" had no red on it. I got it in a trade but have wondered because it looks exactly and I do mean exactly like some unknown bananas I got right here in GA that die back in the winter but grow again in the spring. I thinkI have a picture of my ice cream in my gallery(?), might this be a basjoo. It is growing quite fast this year and I was very pleased with it. Whitish pseudostem, no red. |
Re: Help with Identification
Ok, never posted that picture in my album. Will try to get another picture tomorrow.

Re: Help with Identification
My Ice cream when they were young showed some splotches while the Basjoo don't have them. Perhaps, the ice cream seller may have mislabeled mine?
