Registered Finally - from 613 Ottawa
Hello,
I've been lurking for a while now and thought I should finally take the plunge. I am from Ottawa Ontario and have too many hobbies it seems. I live in a downtown apartment and have been growing many varieties of fruit trees and plants using my large west facing floor to ceiling windows and "urban garden"/balcony space. Currently (2012) on roster: 3 Baobab trees (seed) 2 Apricot trees (seed) 1 Avocado Tree (seed) 4 Lemon Trees - Meyer (seed and 1 trans bearing fruit) 1 Pineapple (yes, from a grocery store bought fruit) 2 Dwarf Cavendish Musa (my pride) There are also many other plants growing in the tortoise vivarium as well as of the garden variety on the balcony as well. Talk about running out of space! When certain trees grow to size I find they make perfect gifts for friends and family. The demand is definately there. I love banana the most and if it were not for the fact they get too large for the space I am in, I would have a jungle. The leaves and growth amaze me and I would love to get my hands on some Blue Java and other varieties when possible in the future. So, I think this is a good start for an introduction... Welcome from sunny Florida. It might be a good idea to get some SDC or something like a Truly Tiny. They will produce fruit, don't take up a lot of room and are really quite pretty.
Good luck. |

Truly Tinys produce fruit? At what height? I know SDCs do but I've never heard of a Truly Tiny fruiting.

Re: Registered Finally - from 613 Ottawa
Thank you! I will be taking a turn at as many different types as I can. Most likely getting some garden and greenhouse space for future growing.
Right now, I need to find some nice big pots for the two that I have as they seem to be growing quite nicely and might bust out of the pots they are in if I don't take action soon! I also have found a source of wind and sun guard for the balcony and still have plenty of window space for any pups should they come along. |
