Hey folks, newbie here from middle Georgia, USA. I've grown interested in weird tropical plants recently and already have 4 Passion Fruit vines growing! I'm interested in bananas next. I'm here to learn more about them, looking forward to the adventure!

We recently planted a Panama Gold. Do your other 3 passionfruit vines produce large or small passionfruit? Are they grafted plants ?

Ha, they've only been in the ground for two weeks, it might be a while before I can answer your size question.

I do not know if they are grafted, though I suspect that they are. How is your plant doing?

Its sending out lots of runners,Its been in the ground a few months its "runners ,climbing approx 10' onto the fence Yesterday I (gently) pulled the the top runners from the tall colourbond fence its clinging to and directed them along it because I don't want it to grow over the top. We've grown P. Gold before. It's fruit is large sweet & full of juice. Last Summer, We pulled out 6 "Nellie Kelly" variety passionfruit plants mainly because they were badly grafted so that the root stock went wild & ran underground, surfacing everywhere! So we pulled 'em out but the blighters are still popping up- even 20' away from where they were planted. Probably you won't have that happen I hope. The passionfruit flowers are beautiful on the vine. They don't like a lot of water in winter. They like chook manure fertilizer.

Tony (sunfish) is a bit modest with his post. He has an extensive collection in San Diego and has done some grafting. Many nurseries sell seedlings while the typical method of propagating plants of named varieties is but rooting cuttings.

Good luck on your bananas!

In Hawaii, I've seen seed-grown and grafted ones. The rootstock here appears to be P. edulis due to its greater resistance to nematodes.

Might I ask where you obtained those vines? We would be interested in them also. Thanks and welcome from central Florida.
