Newbe question on brown leaf edges
Greetings everyone. I have a banana plant in a pot on my deck. When I purchased it in the Spring it was about 2-3 feet tall, fit in the back of my car. It is now almost 7 feet tall and beautiful. Recently I have noticed the edges of the larger, newer leaves turning brown. We had two inches of rain in two days over the weekend, and it has continued to rain every day. Is this the cause? Also, it is in a very small pot. Should I repot it this late in the season? I plan to cut it down to the dirt level and keep it in a root cellar over the Winter, so should I just leave it in the pot it is in. Thanks. So happy to have found this group

Re: Newbe question on brown leaf edges
Welcome! Sounds like you are doing it right for now...
So, Where do you live? Do you have a picture? Also, I always stored mine in my unfinished basement when I lived in Illinois and I planted them in the ground (With some added sand, which helped considerably), but I kept them intact and only trimmed in spring. I just dug them up and put them in a bucket. I know they can dry out inside in winter, depending on length of the winter so give it a little water about once a month or so. Be careful cutting them short, especially when it's bigger, as you might cut off the flower bud rising in the stem.
