After being a member here for a year or so, I've finally acquired some bananas of my own from a local nursery - Dwarf Jamaican Red (~10 gal) and Grand Nain (1 gal). Both appear to be thriving 10 days later, with good-looking new leaves.

Advice needed for the Grand Nain: there are 5 pups of the original plant. They are all less than a foot high. Is this too many? Do you experts recommend getting rid of 1 or 2 of the smallest ones?

I'm happy to be here. I live in West Los Angeles, where we have all of the conditions for banana culture except ... rainfall and humidity. (We have sunshine and moderate temperatures.)

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here and learn a lot! If you have questions, feel free to ask...people are very helpful! As for the pups, it's not necessary to remove them as they do not affect the growth of the main plant, however, if they are large enough and have their own roots, you could probably separate off the largest ones as new plants. Enjoy the site!
